Tilted element transducers have the element fixed at either a 20°, 12° or 0° angle within the transducer housing. Because the transducer is installed almost flush to the hull, when the transducer is installed the tilt corrects for the hull deadrise and orients the ceramic element horizontally to assure maximum echo returns to the transducer.

The Airmar SS175C-12-HW-0 is a 1 kW thru-hull CHIRP transducer designed for marine applications, providing depth and water temperature data. It operates on a high-frequency band from 150 kHz to 250 kHz, offering a constant 25� beamwidth across this range. This transducer is suitable for boats up to 11 meters (36 feet) and is engineered for installation on fiberglass, wood, or metal hulls, including stepped, planing, or displacement types. Its 12� tilted element corrects for hull deadrise between 8� and 15�, ensuring optimal signal returns. The high-frequency, wide-beam design enhances shallow water performance, improves bottom detail, and provides better fish target separation, making it useful for both inshore and pelagic fishing down to 152 meters (500 feet). The unit features a stainless steel housing and Xducer ID� technology, but ships without a connector.
