Tilted element transducers have the element fixed at either a 20°, 12° or 0° angle within the transducer housing. Because the transducer is installed almost flush to the hull, when the transducer is installed the tilt corrects for the hull deadrise and orients the ceramic element horizontally to assure maximum echo returns to the transducer.

The Airmar SS175C-12-HW is a 1 kW thru-hull transducer designed for marine applications requiring depth and water temperature sensing. This unit utilizes High-Wide CHIRP technology, operating across a frequency range of 150 to 250 kHz with a fixed 25� beamwidth. It provides 100 kHz of total bandwidth from a single transducer, suitable for detecting fish in the upper water column and achieving superior shallow water performance and bottom detail. The SS175C-12-HW-BB is intended for installation on fiberglass, wood, or metal hulls with an 8� to 15� deadrise, using its 12� tilted element to correct for hull angle. It offers a maximum depth capability of 152 meters (500 feet) and includes an 8-pin Si-Tex connector. This transducer is suitable for inshore and pelagic fishing where detailed resolution and broad coverage under the boat are priorities.
