Liong Mah Design is my brand to evolve man's oldest tool. For me it is functional art. As some of you may know, I used to work as a Pastry chef and Chef in New York City. This is where I used my knives daily. I became accustomed to getting the best out of my knives. My passion for knives started at an early age. At a young age when other kids were doodling cartoons in their notebooks, I drew knife designs. Learning CAD-changed everything for me. I was able to clearly see how my knives worked inside out. For the past eighteen years I have been bringing my ideas to life. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to work with many of the top knife makers in the industry. Incorporating useful sensibility in my work along with traditional styles and using modern materials, these are the aspects of Liong Mah Design. Never stopping at good enough, I questioned why that was done that way and especially if something could be done a better way. Each knife and tool is a result of an obsession with fine engineering, craftsmanship and a commitment to perfection.
