Furuno GP170 IMO Color GPS
Model: GP170Furuno’s GP170 is a highly stable and reliable position fixing system for ocean going ships, large yachts, ferries and commercial vessels. It is an ideal position sensor for Radar, AIS, ECDIS, Autopilot, Echo Sounder and other navigation and communications equipment. Its newly designed GPS chip and antenna deliver enhanced stability and precision in position fixing. Noise rejection capabilities are incorporated in the new receiver, delivering anti-jamming function as well as a high level of tolerance towards multi-path mitigation. Tolerance towards multi-path mitigation is further enhanced when the GPA020S or GPA021S antenna unit is utilized.
A variety of display modes are available including Plotter, Course, Highway, Data and Integrity. The Integrity display mode delivers a highly accurate Skyplot presentation of currently viewable satellites, status on GNSS/SBAS signal reception including strength and SNR, and elevation angles of available satellites, as well as detailed information about available beacon stations.

The Furuno GP170 is a dedicated GPS unit designed for ocean-going ships, large yachts, ferries, and commercial vessels requiring a stable and reliable position-fixing system. This unit provides enhanced precision through SBAS utilization and features a 10 Hz position update rate for steady ship tracking. It is compliant with IMO MSC.114 (73) and IEC 61108-4 standards, making it suitable for regulated maritime environments. The GP170 integrates a front panel USB port for data export/import and a LAN interface (IEC 61162-450) for network integration into bridge systems, supporting BAM (Bridge Alert Management) readiness. It serves as a position sensor for various navigation and communication equipment, including Radar, AIS, ECDIS, Autopilot, and Echo Sounders. The system incorporates noise rejection and anti-jamming functions, with multi-path mitigation further enhanced when using GPA020S or GPA021S antenna units. Display modes include Plotter, Course, Highway, Data, and Integrity, with the latter providing detailed satellite and signal information.
The Furuno GP170 is designed as a highly stable and reliable position-fixing system for ocean-going ships, large yachts, ferries, and commercial vessels. It functions as an ideal position sensor for integration with Radar, AIS, ECDIS, Autopilot, and Echo Sounders.
The GP170 features a front panel USB port for exporting and importing routing data, menu settings, and user settings. It also includes a LAN interface (IEC 61162-450) for efficient network integration into a bridge system, supporting Bridge Alert Management (BAM).
The Furuno GP170 provides a 10 Hz (0.1 second) position update rate, which enables steady own ship tracking. This contributes to enhanced stability and precision in position fixing.
The GPS receiver in the GP170 offers an accuracy not exceeding 10 meters (2 drms, HDOP). It utilizes 12 GPS channels and 2 SBAS channels to achieve this precision.
