Product Overview

PWC 500 GPH Automatic Pump

In the next generation sensing bilge pumps, the 500 GPH S-Series pump works on the principle of impeller resistance. The pump will turn on every 2-1/2 minutes for about one second to sense for water. If water is present, the pump will sense resistance and continue to run until all water is removed. After that, it will resume checking for water every 2-1/2 minutes. Water is kept in check between 1/8" and 3/8". Improved design and performance means that our new 500 GPH pump will produce this flow at just 12 volts rather than 13.6 volts as previously required, more typical of on board voltage supply. Our next generation of Rule pumps include check valves and to do this we've created a hidden air vent to prevent airlocking. Under each strainer tab there is a small hole that vents any air trapped in the pump housing preventing airlocks. Rule has true electromagnetic suppression (EMC) and have a built-in thermal cell that protects the pump and the vessel when things get too hot. These are the smallest automatic pumps on the market.

Features:

  • Completely automatic with manual override; no float switch needed
  • Submersible and ignition protected
  • High efficiency, low amp motor
  • Stainless-steel shaft
  • Includes backflow preventer

Expert Overview

The Rule 25SA-6WC PWC 500 GPH Automatic Pump is an S-Series bilge pump designed for automatic water removal. This submersible pump operates on the principle of impeller resistance, activating for approximately one second every 2.5 minutes to sense for water. If water is detected, the pump continues to run until the area is clear, maintaining water levels between 1/8 and 3/8 inches. It delivers a flow rate of 500 gallons per hour at 12 volts, which is typical of onboard voltage supplies. The pump features a built-in check valve and a hidden air vent to prevent airlocking. It also includes true electromagnetic suppression (EMC) and a thermal cell for protection against overheating. This unit is suitable for applications requiring an automatic bilge pump without the need for a separate float switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the automatic sensing feature work?

The pump operates on the principle of impeller resistance. It turns on for about one second every 2.5 minutes to sense for water. If water is present, the pump senses resistance and continues to run until the water is removed.

What is the operating voltage for this pump?

This pump is designed to produce its 500 GPH flow rate at 12 volts, which is typical for onboard voltage supplies.

What features are included to prevent airlocking?

The pump includes check valves and a hidden air vent. A small hole under each strainer tab vents any air trapped in the pump housing, preventing airlocks.

Does this pump require a separate float switch for automatic operation?

No, this pump is completely automatic with a manual override and does not require a separate float switch for its automatic sensing function.
