Product Overview

500GPH Electronic Sensing Bilge Pump - 12V

In the next generation sensing bilge pumps, the 500GPH S series pump works on the principle of impeller resistance. The pump will turn on every 2-1/2 minutes for about one second to sense for water. If water is present, the pump will sense resistance and continue to run until all water is removed. After that, it will resume checking for water every 2-1/2 minutes.

Water is kept in check between 1/8" and 3/8"!!! Great idea when power conservation is needed and as an added benefit, no float switch is needed!

All that plus the added benefits of our standard bilge pump:
  • Check valve included with hidden air vent to prevent airlocking
  • True electromagnetic suppression (EMC)
  • A built-in thermal cell that protects the pump and the vessel when things get too hot

These are the smallest automatic pumps available on the market!!!

Features:
  • Completely automatic with manual override - No Float Switch Needed!
  • Submersible and Ignition Protected
  • High efficiency, low amp motor
  • Stainless-steel shaft
  • Includes backflow preventer

Expert Overview

The Rule 500GPH Electronic Sensing Bilge Pump - 12V, part number 25SA, is designed for marine applications requiring automated water removal and power conservation. This pump operates by sensing water presence through impeller resistance, activating for approximately one second every 2.5 minutes to check for water. If resistance indicates water, the pump runs continuously until the water level is between 1/8" and 3/8", then reverts to its sensing cycle. This mechanism eliminates the need for an external float switch, contributing to a more streamlined installation and reduced power consumption. Key features include a built-in thermal cell for overheat protection, electromagnetic suppression (EMC), and a backflow preventer with a hidden air vent to prevent airlocking. It is a submersible, ignition-protected unit with a high-efficiency, low-amp motor and a stainless-steel shaft, suitable for buyers seeking a compact, automatic bilge solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the electronic sensing feature work?

The pump turns on for approximately one second every 2.5 minutes to sense for water using impeller resistance. If water is detected, it runs until the water is removed, then resumes its sensing cycle.

What is included with the Rule 25SA bilge pump?

The pump includes a check valve with a hidden air vent to prevent airlocking and a backflow preventer. It also features a built-in thermal cell and electromagnetic suppression (EMC).

What are the power requirements for this pump?

This bilge pump is designed for 12V systems. It features a high efficiency, low amp motor for power conservation.

Does this pump require a separate float switch for automatic operation?

No, this pump is completely automatic with a manual override and does not require a separate float switch. Its electronic sensing mechanism handles water detection and pump activation.
