This unique nine-key kalimba is beautiful in every way imaginable the detailed art, carved handle, real gourd design, and of course, the soothing melodic sounds. Also known as a thumb piano or finger harp, the kalimba is fun to play and easy to learn. The hand-carved handle is shaped like a cat and makes the kalimba comfortable to hold and play. Just hold it firmly in your hands and pluck the keys with both thumbs together or individually to produce soothing and aurally pleasant melodies. But don't stop there. As your skill and confidence grow, you can also use the kalimba to create a variety of entertaining accents and even complex musical arrangements. Nine steel keys in varying lengths produce different pitches, and the keys can be easily tuned to your liking. Simply tighten or loosen tension using the three screws on top, then move the keys in or out to adjust their length and pitch. The longer keys have lower pitches while shorter ones have higher pitches. The key set is mounted atop a hard shell gourd that features a wooden faceplate with carved detail and a burnt-look finish. Because gourd size will vary slightly from one to the next, each kalimba measures approximately 12"ΝL x 8"Ν-9"Ν Dia. The compact size makes it easy to take with you wherever and whenever you play.
