Talos SFD-1000-N2K Motion Lightning Detector
Model: SFD-1000-N2KDesigned for OEM customized applications and boat builds, the SFD-1000-N2K utilizes a proprietary, patent-pending, compact design. The unit connects directly to the NMEA 2000 network, with plug and play connectivity and alerts are seen directly on the multi-functional displays (MFDs).
The TALOS Remote Lightning Detector alerts you to approaching or departing storm fronts and lightning by sensing the distance from the lightning strikes that are occurring in the area. The unit sends alerts via the digital NMEA 2000 network and those alerts show on the boat's multi-functionaldisplays (MFDs). The alerts display the distance at which the lightning was detected. Audible and visual alerts make you aware of potentially life-threatening and electronic equipment damaging lightning, elevating your situation awareness and providing you with time to seek safety.

The Talos SFD-1000-N2K Motion Lightning Detector, part number 1428, is a compact, NMEA 2000 compliant device designed for integration into marine and OEM applications. This unit detects lightning strikes up to a 25-mile range, providing critical weather awareness for boat builds and customized systems. It utilizes technology similar to larger weather stations to deliver accurate storm front detection. The SFD-1000-N2K connects directly to an NMEA 2000 network, offering plug-and-play connectivity. It transmits three distinct alert messages indicating storm front distances at 25 NM, 10 NM, and 5 NM, along with an 'All Clear' message after 30 minutes of no lightning activity. These alerts are displayed on multi-functional displays (MFDs), enhancing situational awareness for operators. Its IP-67 waterproof rating, low power consumption, and operating temperature range of -20 to 80 degrees Celsius make it suitable for demanding environments. The device is powered via the NMEA 2000 CAN bus, simplifying installation.
The Talos SFD-1000-N2K Motion Lightning Detector can detect lightning strikes up to a 25-mile range.
The unit connects directly to an NMEA 2000 network, offering plug-and-play connectivity. Alerts are displayed on multi-functional displays (MFDs) connected to the same network.
The detector provides three different alert messages indicating storm front distances at 25 NM, 10 NM, and 5 NM. It also sends an 'All Clear' message after 30 minutes of no lightning strikes.
The device receives power directly from the NMEA 2000 CAN bus, with an input supply voltage range of 6-30 VDC. It has a current draw of 400 micro Amps in listening mode and 4.5 mA in detecting mode.
