The PSS Shaft Seal is the leading marine mechanical seal globally, frequently used as standard equipment by top boat builders and yards. Additionally, it serves as a premier retrofit seal in the aftermarket. It is certified by Bureau Veritas, ABS & Rina, signifying advantages for installation that significantly reduce maintenance, constant adjustments, and costs associated with traditional packing type glands. The PSS Shaft Seal is designed to prevent water ingress (100% water tight) and minimizes wear on the propeller shaft. With easy retrofit capabilities, it accommodates shafts ranging from 3/4" (20mm) to 6" (150mm).

The PSS Shaft Seal operates through a mechanical face seal formed between the stainless steel rotor's flat surfaces and the stationary carbon flange. The carbon flange, attached to the vessel's stern tube with clamps, allows for compensating misalignments and vibrations through its floating design. It also features a sealing mechanism with o-rings that rotate with the shaft, eliminating wear during operation. Regular inspections of the rubber hose below the waterline are advised to check for wear and aging. The PSS bellows should be replaced every six years as preventive maintenance. In harsh environments, more frequent inspections may be necessary.
