ERC-12-35 Emergency Relay Charger
The ERC-12-35 Emergency Relay Charger ensures that your communication equipment remains operational during power outages. In case of AC power failure, this device automatically switches to backup battery power using a fast-acting relay. Once AC power is restored, the relay reverts to the power supply while maintaining the battery charge for readiness.
This device provides a trickle charge to the battery while the main power supply is active, keeping it at full capacity. The float charge voltage is set 0.7 volts below the power supply voltage. If the system is down for extended periods, an additional charger may be required to fully charge the backup battery.
Installation Instructions:
For optimal performance, install the ERC as close to the battery as possible, ensuring there are no hazards for accidental contact. Mounting options include vertical, horizontal, or upside-down without affecting functionality. Use #10 screws for installation. Ensure it is isolated from any explosive gases, especially if placed near batteries.
Wiring Guidelines:
Keep the wiring as short as possible and use corrosion-free wiring for connections.
Be sure to use the included connectors securely, especially for models ERC-12-15 and ERC-24-15, which come with terminal covers to prevent short circuits.
Specifications:
The Newmar Power ERC-12-35 Emergency Relay Charger is designed to maintain continuous operation of critical communication equipment during AC power interruptions. This device automatically transitions to a backup battery supply upon AC power failure via a fast-acting relay, ensuring uninterrupted power. Once AC power is restored, the unit reverts to the main power supply and simultaneously provides a trickle charge to the backup battery, keeping it ready for subsequent outages. It is suitable for IT environments requiring reliable power continuity for essential systems. The charger maintains the battery at a float charge voltage 0.7 volts below the main power supply voltage. Installation is flexible, supporting vertical, horizontal, or upside-down mounting, and requires #10 screws. The compact design facilitates integration into existing setups, providing a practical solution for power redundancy.
The ERC-12-35 automatically switches to backup battery power during an AC power failure to ensure communication equipment remains operational. It then reverts to AC power and trickle charges the battery once power is restored.
This unit has an input range of 10.0-14.5 VDC (12V). The relay is rated for 30 amps continuous and 35 amps intermittent operation.
Wiring should be kept as short as possible and use corrosion-free materials. For a 5 ft. wire length, #8 AWG is recommended; for 10 ft., #6 AWG; and for 15-20 ft., #4 AWG.
The ERC-12-35 provides a trickle charge to maintain battery health. If the system is down for extended periods, an additional charger may be required to fully recharge a backup battery.
