The AIS Engine 3 is an essential tool for yacht and vessel tracking, compatible with both PC and AIS-compatible plotters. It comes with a complimentary copy of SeaClear and a trial version of Software on Board. The product includes a data cable for connecting to the 9-pin serial port of a PC and a 12-volt power cable.
With the AIS Engine 3 and a standard marine antenna, users can easily plot the locations of vessels on their PC screens. The software operates on various Windows versions including 95, 98, ME, XP, 2000, NT, and Vista, featuring a detailed world map where vessels are tracked. Users can select any vessel on the screen to view its AIS data, including the vessel's name, MMSI number, position, call sign, and destination.
The unit receives ships on both A and B AIS channels, alternating between them by default. The AIS Engine is also compatible with plotters and PC software with an AIS input facility, requiring an NMEA 0183HS input at 38,400 baud for receiving VDM AIS strings adhering to ITU-1371.
If your PC lacks a spare 9-pin serial port, a low-cost serial to USB converter is available as an optional accessory.
