The Total Access 608 T1 ATM Network Interface Unit is designed for seamless integration with VoATM and VoIP applications. It features Echo Cancellation (G.168) and ADPCM (G.726) compression resources, ensuring high-quality voice transmission. For those upgrading from a 2nd Gen TA 612/616/624 T1 TDM to ATM, an additional Echo Cancellation and ADPCM compression resource module is required if not initially included.

This unit boasts fixed FXS ports options (4, 8, 12, 16, or 24) and a 50-pin female Amphenol connector that provides Carrier Class analog POTS interfaces. It also integrates a robust IP router accessible via 10/100BaseT Ethernet, supporting DHCP, NAT/PAT, packet filtering, and RIP V1/V2.

For synchronous data applications, it includes a Layer 2 PPP and Frame Relay V.35 interface. All of this is housed in a durable metal casing, backed by a 10-year warranty. The unit is AC powered, with an optional battery backup available separately or as part of a bundle.
